The ideal chandelier size is proportional to the room's height, width, and furniture size.

Here are several general rules that can be applied to most spaces:

1.About the diameter of chandelier

To determine the diameter of the chandelier, you can measure the length and width of the space in feet, add them together, and then convert the sum to inches. This will give you an approximate diameter for the chandelier.

For example 16 feet (Room Length) + 8 feet (Room Width) = 24 feet; The chandelier should be about 24 inches for its diameter

2.About the height of chandelier

To determine the height of the chandelier, you can measure the floor to ceiling distance in feet and multiply by 2.5. This will give you an approximate height in inches for a pendant style chandelier. However, this rule may not necessarily apply to ceiling style chandeliers, as their height may be dictated by other factors such as ceiling height or the desired visual impact. Therefore, when choosing a chandelier, it's important to consider its style and purpose in addition to its dimensions.

We recommend that the length or diameter of the chandelier be between 1/2 and 3/4 of the length of the table or island to create a balanced and pleasing aesthetic. This will ensure that the chandelier provides adequate lighting while complementing the space.

If your dining table measures 60 inches in length, the chandelier should have a diameter or length ranging from 30 inches (60 x 1/2) to 45 inches (60 x 3/4). The same principle applies when selecting a chandelier for a kitchen island, ensuring that the chandelier size complements the island's length. This will create a balanced and harmonious atmosphere in your dining or kitchen space.

Two-Story Foyer with Staircase

In addition to the general rule that the chandelier's bottom should be at least 7.5 feet above the floor, when dealing with spaces on two levels, it's important to consider how the chandelier will look from the second floor. Staircase chandeliers can be a good choice for these spaces. Here are two common placement guidelines:

When hanging a chandelier in a space with two levels, it's generally recommended to use the second floor as a reference point. Position the chandelier slightly lower than or at the top of the staircase. This ensures that when you are at the top of the staircase, the top of the chandelier will be at your eye-level, providing an optimal viewing angle and enhancing the overall aesthetic.

For example, if there is a large transparent window above the door, the chandelier should be centered in the window to achieve the best visual result from the outside. Long Hallways

Chandelier size for hall ways should be determined by the width of the hallway. Multiple the hallway’s width in feet by 2.5 will be the diameter of the chandelier in inches.

For example, the hallway’s width is 8 feet. The chandelier’s diameter should be about 20 (8 x 2.5) inches
